"It is very lonely sometimes, trying to play God."

Oliver Wendell Holmes

Sex addiction and other addictive disorders are a repression mechanism for current and unresolved suffering. It is a lonely and isolated existence full of deep and toxic, shame.

Underneath the behaviors are attachment and intimacy disorders. Real healing of these injuries happens most powerfully in a group setting. At Life Works, groups are an integral part of the process.

Life Works Recovery offers three Men's Sex Addiction Groups that meet at the following times:

Men's Sex Addiction Groups are part of a holistic approach to treating sex addiction that utilizes Dr. Patrick Carne's Task Model of recovery. This approach is research driven and appears to correlate with a high degree of long-term sobriety, 97% according to Dr. Carne's research. This approach supplies important direction and structure to the healing process.

There are 7 tasks that the recovering person must complete in order to maintain sobriety. These tasks provide the foundation for the rest of recovery. These these tasks can be found in a workbook, Facing The Shadow. Along with this workbook, a Recovery Start Kit is used to facilitate the first 130 days of recovery, a critical period of time for the recovering person. These materials are then used, along with a 12 step group and a men's sex addiction recovery group (Men New To Recovery).

Once In Sustained Recovery...

At this point, thee recovering person has sustained sobriety and is fully engaged in the recovery process. He or she is ready for join the sustained recovery group. Tasks 8 through tasks 20 will begin in this phase. These tasks include:

  • Understanding Addiction Interactions

  • Making Deep, Meaningful Amends
  • Sustaining Culture Of Recovery
